RUDI WIEST HOOKED RIESLING 2010, GERMANY
Hooked! Riesling from the Nahe region, a Rudi Wiest negotiant wine, where Rudi sourced the grapes and found a winemaker to produce the wine, and he also used an artist he likes out of Berlin to create the label. The Hooked Riesling showed beautifully - it's medium-dry palate was a perfect crispness and fruitiness - like biting into fresh green grapes and apples - that appealed widely to the crowd last evening. It's the perfect Riesling to serve to a varied crowd on a Friday evening.

VINA EGUIA RIOJA CRIANZA 2008, SPAIN

The Hugel Gentil revives an ancient Alsace tradition that wines produced from a blend of noble varietals were called "Gentil". "Gentil has become a joyous, convivial wine whose arrival the Hugel family always awaits with impatience in the spring following each vintage.
Gentil is pure, with fresh aromas, very fruit-driven and floral, as well as expressive. On the palate, this dry wine has a lively, youthful fresh character that is refreshing, with a pleasant, scented finish. The 2011 Leese-Fitch Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp and refreshing wine. This wine has clean aromas of lemon peel, ground ginger, and blanched almonds. The palate has a bright acidity that carries along zesy and refreshing flavors of fresh citrus and white nectarine.

This new release from Desert Dove is pure, balanced and generous. The 2009 vintage was relatively dry, warm and trouble free giving us a wine that is pure, balanced and generous. The nose is packed with stone fruit, fig, honey, spice and red apples. The palate is both crisp and concentrated with a mineral finish. It's a great easy drinking Chardonnay.
